| HOLE OF RUTHVEN | Hole of Ruthven | Mr Crichton George Hill Tibbermore Perth Mr Wright |
097 | The following is taken from New Statistical Accounts. "The parish seems once to have contained several wells of considerable note. One of the most celebrated of these was situated in the eastern part of the parish at a place called Hole of Ruthven. Its virtues were so famous that neither the authority of the magistrates, nor the admonitions of the clergy, although most rigourously applied, could deter the citizens from frequenting their efficacy. The name of the place still remains, but the well has long lost its existence." The name is now applied to an old one storey thatched house which was built on the site of the well. |

Ordnance Survey - Perth county
Ordnance Survey was established in the 18th century to create maps, surveys and associated records for the entirety of Great Britain. These records are arranged by county. This entry has been created to enable searching for Ordnance Survey records for the county of Perth, which is in central Scotland. The boundaries of the county were altered by the Boundary Commissioners in 1891.
