[West] side of Kirkside This is the marKet place of the City for the sale of provisions. viz Butter Eggs potatoes & also butcher meat but it is very little used for the latter purpose as the butchers have generally Shops of their own in different parts of the City. The goods brought to this marKet are cheifly exposed for sale in sheds along the north and south sides of the square which are partly provided with stalls for that purpose. There are two marKets weekly in Perth viz. on Wednesdays and Fridays but nearly all the marKet business is done on Friday The business done on Wednesday is scarcely worth notice |
