098 | [Situation] E. [East] side of James Street These barracks consist or ranges of low buildings surrounding a quadrangle or court yard. Thes barracks are used by the militia when they are called in Perth to do military duty and on that account are usually called the militia BarracKs ,but when not occupied by the latter troops they are used by the regular troops when there is not sufficient room in the other barracks. These barracKs are capable of accommodating 207 men including quarters for two staff sergeants. There are no officers quarters here. Owing to want of repairs there are at present room only for 155 men. There is no accommodation for Cavalry here. |
