It was built in 1859 by public subscription by a number of persons who seceded from the Free Church. It is neatly fitted up and seated for 850 of a congregation - attached to it on the north side is its Session House |

Note: The Congregation of this Church having recently joined the United Presbyterian Church. It is now belonging to that denomination of Christians. There is no minister as yet chosen permanent but the congregation is supplied weekly. The name is to be "York Place United Presbyterian Church" but as it is situated in "York Place U. P. [United Presbyterian] Church" will be sufficient designation on plan
