098 | Situation:Runs east from the North end of North Shore The following notice of this bridge is transcribed from the New Stat. Acct [New Statistical Account] of Perth. " In the traditional account of the Origin of Perth given by Mr. Henry Adamson in his Muses Florenodie it is said that Agricola having fortified the town with walls and a strong Castle did also with much Labour to his soldiers and probably to the poor natives also construct a wooden bridge over the river at Perth. This may be true, but he produces no fact to give probability to the tradition. Among the records belonging to the Abbacy of Scone There is an order from King Robert Bruce 1329 to the abbot and monks, to allow the magistrates of Perth liberty to take stones out the quarries of Kincarathie or Balcormac [Continued on next page] |
