109 | [Situation] Near the Central portion of the parish. A large stone standing inside of the wall of Invermay demesne, which was placed there some eighteen years or twenty ago to replace one of very ancient date which had been broken & destroyed by the rude hands of some unskilful workmen going about it. It, the former one, is said to have been covered over with curious devices in the shape of bores & standing upon a pedestal between two & three feet square Tradition states, or rather it is said the tradition of General Belshes, that it was used in days of yore as a beacon for hunting appointments. The present stone is a plain piece of Ashlar with chiselled edges, about nine feet high, twenty one by twenty four inches square & standing upon a small pedestal between two & three feet square which is said to be that of the former stone, the pieces of which are now found together with him |

There is a Stone Cross quite entire a good way up the rising
ground (Bankhead) on the opposite bank of the Earn almost straight
north from the ford by which Baliol's army crossed the river and
another on the south of Forteviot upon a rising ground called Dronachy
lying broken over at the pedestal on which are many emblematical
figures.
