[Note]
THE SHIP
In the new Stat. Acct, [Statistical Account] mention is made of Ternavie as being the remains of a Roman Camp
and it is remarKed that it "resembles the hull of a ship inverted, hence as is Commonly supposed
its name (Terrae maris)". The object here refered to by the name Ternavie appears to be that Called The Ship
but all intelligent persons in the locality regard this object as a natural feature or rather
a land Slip which happened at Some remote period. It has no appearance of being the
Remains of a Fort, or Camp. In the Same volume is also remarKed that there is a Roman
Camp Called Ardargie in this parish but upon enquiry Ardargie Camp is not in the parish
of Dunning but in the adjoining parish.

Ordnance Survey - Perth county
Ordnance Survey was established in the 18th century to create maps, surveys and associated records for the entirety of Great Britain. These records are arranged by county. This entry has been created to enable searching for Ordnance Survey records for the county of Perth, which is in central Scotland. The boundaries of the county were altered by the Boundary Commissioners in 1891.
