109 | [Situation] In the centre of Dunning A Substantially erected building of plain rubble masonry. Somewhat of a T shape & having a Square tower attached to the west end The date of its erection is not Known but it was thoroughly repaired in 1810. It can accommodate 800 people & at the present time has 600 Communicants attached. The grave yard Surrounds it. The tower at the west end of the church appears to be of very ancient date it is square and of Considerable height presenting an appearance liKe the old tower of St. Mary's Church in the Nethergate Dundee. The inhabitants have a traditionary legend that it was built by the same builders who built the round tower at Abernethy, and at the same time. |
