003 | [situation] About 1½ Miles S. by W. [South by West] from Ferniehole In the centre of this tumulus was found a stone coffin which contained the ashes of human bones-No remains of this tumulus is now to be seen the field in which it was Situated having been cultivated for a number of years. No further particulars can be had about it in the locality. Towards the northern extremity of this farm "(Kingside)" a barrow or tumulus enclosed by three circular walls was opened in the year 1828 by the farmer for the sake of the Stones and in the Centre of the inner Circle was discovered a rude Stone Coffin containing the ashes of human bones that had obviously been subjected to the action of fire. Combustion had not been so Complete but that several of the processes remained entire in particular those of temporal bone.
