of Scott's 'Black Dwarf" lived in the Parish
of Manor, at the distance of About four
miles from Peebles. He was born of poor
parents in the parish of Stobo about the year 1740

a refuge on the farm of Woodhouse, Parish of
Manor, where, by the favour of the Proprietor
he was Allowed to build for himself A

John Naysmith of Posso, in selling

it is Said he Selected the part whereon the dwarf's Cottage Stands.
