014 | [Situation] About 5/8 of a mile S.W. [South West] from Caberston Craigs A large & extensive mill built by the proprietor, Henry Ballantyne Galashiels, in 1854. It is well fitted up with the most improved machinery for carding & spinning wool. The proprieter intends, after some time, to introduce the manufacture of fancy Tweeds etc. About 30 hands are at present employed in Carding & Spinning wool. There is a good & constant Supply of water, probably on an average about 30 horse power. |
