009 | [Situation] The one is 28 chains NW [NorthWest] and the other 26 NW [North West] by W [West] of Wormiston Two large Tumuli were pulled down here about thirty years ago there were found several "Urns" which contained the dust of human remains also a number of nails and other articles resembling coffin mounting or handles. The site of those tumuli are situated on the Farm of Hatton Knowe and the ground at the present time is under cultivation. It is said these objects were composed of earth and stones. |
