Andrew Gold Esq. Grainbank Mr William Liddle Clerk Kirkwall Mr George Garrioch farmer Brough |
115 | The site of a very large and ancient Brough situated nearly half way between the farm of Brough and Veniekeldie and fully 1/4 mile north west of Campston. The County tradition puts this site down as an ancient Camping station but the more learned people say that it is the site of one of those ancient Broughs so numerous throughout the Orkneys. There remains nothing of the Brough but a slight green around the stones being takeaway for building purposes. The date of its existence as a Brough is not now know in the locality. |
