101 | A large chambered Tumulus of great antiquity. It is of a conical Shape & stands about 36 feet high it is surrounded by a broad ditch which is dry and of no great depth at the present time also outside the ditch is a turf wall about 3 1/2 feet high. It is situated a short distance to the North of Tormiston & to the North of the Public Road leading from Kirkwall to Stromness, A decription of the buildings inside this Tumulus is given in a Hand Book to the Orkney Islands, By W Peace Kirkwall it is also elaborately described in "Andersons Guide to the Highlands" & other works.
