Parish of Birsay -- Orkney

Durka Dale -- Original entry scored out -- A district, or tract of Ground, the greatest portion of which was at one time inhabited and cultivated; but the dwellings, except two near the W. end, have all been razed, and it is now Chiefly overgrown with heath, It is about ½ miles long and is situated between the foot of Greenay Hill, on the NE. and the Burn of Durkadale, The property of the Earl of Zetland.
