013.07 | This school was erected about 40 years ago by the Trustees of a merchant of Whitburn named Wilson, who left in their hands £!000 for the erection and support of a school at the village of Stane. £320 was expended in the erection of the school and a house for the teacher. £680 remain in the hands of the Trustees the interest of which goes to the support of the school. The site was given free to the Trustees by Shotts Iron Company. An addition was lately made to the school. The Government contributed part of the funds the remainder was made up by subscription. The school is now visited by Government Inspectors. Mr David Laurence is the present teacher. |
