There appears to have been a chapel at "Shotts" dedicated to St. [Saint] Catherine of Sienna. In the vicinity of the chapel, a copious spring of excellent water was consecrated to St. [Saint] Catherine; and it still bears the popular name of "Kate's Well", -- Chalmers,
