It was intended for an Educational Institution or Academy and the funds with which it was built were chiefly contributed by the Reverend Mr. Boreland Minister of the United Presbyterian Church, Broomgate, and by his congregation. It is at present unoccupied for want of a Teacher and has been so for some years back. It is well built, 2 storeys, and slated. The upper storey was set apart for Females and the under one for Males.
