011.16 | A good Stone Bridge over the Burnwhich comes from the Farm of Blantyre Park, & which is called "Park Burn" until it is joined by a Burn from Hamilton Parish, which bears the name "Wellshaw Burn" - XI-15 Trace 3. The same authorities for the Bridge, authorize the same name for the Burn from the point described above to where it enters the River Clyde - a distance of not more than 19 chains. This Bridge has always borne the names given, together with the Burn, some slight inclines in the Roads termed braes. From the nature of the object, & the name being a well known name in the neighborhood, it has been applied to the Bridge in preference tothe Burn, as the latter is evidently but the continuation of "Park Burn", & like many other Burns, bears the name while passing through their lands,which in the proprietor's titles bear the name"Whistleberry". The proper application of this name is scarcely known in the Parish.It is, however commonly applied to everything in the neighborhood of the Burn.
