006.11 | A small but handsome building surmounted by a spire of considerable height. It was erected in 1641 as an alms house and rebuilt in 1805 by reason of a bequest by the brothers Hutcheson, whose statues adorn the front of the building. It is now chiefly occupied for business and not charitable uses, altho the revenues of the institution are still devoted to their original purposes, the relief of the aged and infirm and the gratuitous education of the young. |

Ordnance Survey - Lanark county
Ordnance Survey was established in the 18th century to create maps, surveys and associated records for the entirety of Great Britain. These records are arranged by county. This entry has been created to enable searching for Ordnance Survey records for the county of Lanark, which is in the west of Scotland. The boundaries of the county were altered by the Boundary Commissioners in 1891.
