Fullarton's Imperial Gazetteer and other
authentic sources it appears that an
abbey subordinate to that of Lesmahagow
and belonging to monks of the habit
an order of cistercians was coeval with
and situated close to
the church of St.[Saint] Luke, and this is
further confirmed by the circumstance
of a portion of holmland which is now
embraced in the ornamental grounds
of Mauldslie, having been known a
century back to the inhabitants
of the locality by the name of
Abbey Steads; but the site of
which at the present day cannot
be exactly pointed out.

Ordnance Survey was established in the 18th century to create maps, surveys and associated records for the entirety of Great Britain. These records are arranged by county. This entry has been created to enable searching for Ordnance Survey records for the county of Lanark, which is in the west of Scotland. The boundaries of the county were altered by the Boundary Commissioners in 1891.
