-------

KILNCADZOW OR KILCADZOW
--------------------------------------
Ref. attached DR.87/826/45. The spelling of above
is submitted for D.G.'s decision please.
This anme has always been shown on O.S. maps as
KILNCADZOW although several modes of spelling were
recorded at the date of the original survey in 1861
(see Object Name Book, page 118)
In view of the fact that three of the original
authorities were in favour of KILCADZOW and that the
present day Postmaster, the Clerk of the Parish who is
also apparently the Registrar of Births (see O.S. 230's
attached) and the Lanarkshire County Council have
adopted this spelling, I recommend that KILCADZOW be
shown on O.S. maps.
May all documents be returned for binding in the
Object Name Book.

Transcriber's notes

I have transcribed this as far as I can. The system does not allow for formatting freeform documents like this and any attempt to reflect the document accurately is over-ridden by the system.

There are several signatures that I could not read but knowledge of who held the posts referred to in 1945 should provide information to decipher them.

Ordnance Survey - Lanark county

Ordnance Survey was established in the 18th century to create maps, surveys and associated records for the entirety of Great Britain. These records are arranged by county. This entry has been created to enable searching for Ordnance Survey records for the county of Lanark, which is in the west of Scotland. The boundaries of the county were altered by the Boundary Commissioners in 1891.
