Description: A stone of about three feet long and four equal sides of about 14 inches Broad each standing upright in a piece of coarse meadow land on the farm of Drumjohn In April 1807 a man named Alexander Williamson a Cattle dealer and resident of Dumfries was passing through this field towards Blairshinnoch farm house when met by a man named Meatland Smith who followed him from dumfries with the intention of murdering and Robbing him the murder he accomplished by shooting him through the heart on the spot where the stone now stands but was disapointed in his pecuniary views as Williamson had no money in his possession at the time, the corpse was removed to a farm house and in a few days after the murder this stone had been placed here to Commemorate the Atrocious deed on the stone appears the following inscription A.W. 1807 being the initials of the deceased and the date of his murder
