Description: A site of a castle on Auchenfranko farm enclosed by a fosse in the form of a Rhombus at the eastern Corner of which is a small opening which is supposed to be the site of a draw bridge the only access to the castle when in existance, the present Farmer of Auchenfranko says that he about twenty five years ago saw small pieces of the walls standing which he and his workmen cleared away for the purpose of building out offices fences &c he also says that it is supposed to have been one of Lord Herries Castles its present appearance would indicate that it had been a place of Great strength at one time
