| FORT [Big Airds Hill] | Fort Fort Fort Fort or Camp |
Quintin Mitchel [Mitchell] James Craig David McMinn William Black |
051 | This object is situated upon the summit of Big Airds Hill and is looked upon by the inhabitants as having been a Fort or Camp, but as it has more the appearance of a Fort some conclude that it has been a Fort. there has evidently been a fosse round a portion of it and the steepness of the hill defended the other portion. This spot seems to have been well selected as it served the double purpose of a good look out, and it was also difficult of access. |
