| FORT [Auchenfad] | Fort Fort |
James Craig David McMinn |
051 | This object was pointed out by the given authorities they agree in calling it a Camp, or Fort, but which of the two was correct they could not say. It is situated on level ground and consists of one raised circle of stones the base of which is a about 6 feet thick & now greatly overgrown with grass etc. etc. & is not more than 1 or 1 1/2 feet high in any place, the centre is level & there is no appearance of a fosse or entrenchment, but seems to have been defended by the great rampart of stones which formed its outer edge. It is upon the farm of Auchenfad. |
