Auchencairn Burn--Burn--A considerable stream which after passing Collin Mill (which it works) it becomes the Auchencairn Burn, but above this point it is called Collin Burn, it runs in a southerly direction and passes near the Village of Auchencairn from which it takes its name, at this village it works Dundrennan Mill, to which Mill it is bound by charter, it passes under Auchencairn Bridge and retains this name till it enters high water mark after which it is called Auchencairn Lane from High to low water it is from 15 t0 25 links wide gravelly bottomed & very shallow--[Rerrick]--David McMinn
