050 | The remains of the late parochial church little of which is now left except the Aisle, at the South end of which in a recess in the wall formed by a Semicircular arch and Surmounted by the Joint arms of Herries Maxwell And McClellen inscribed with Suitable inscriptions lies a figure of a Belted Knight (Thomas McClellan who founded Kirkcudbright Castle) whose family are deposited in a vault below. In 1846 a beautiful Marble Tablet with Suitable inscriptions was affixed to the wall to commemorate Dr Muter who died in Jany [January] 1820 and was interred in St Cuthbert's Graveyard.
