[North] side of St. Cuthberts St. and nearly mid way between St. Cuthbert's St. & St. Mary's St. A house two Stories high and in good repair, with upper floor occupied as the Catholic Chapel the clergyman of which is the Rev [Reverend] Joseph Strain from Dabeatite, who can only officiate on the first Sunday of every month. Its average number of hearers is about 100, total number belonging to the parish 200, and 100 belonging to the adjoining parishes which occasionally attend it. It is well fitted up with Sittings and capable of accommodating about 132 persons. The ground floor of the building is occupied as tenements. The property of Mrs. Strain the Minister's mother, who resides in Dalbeattie. |
