047 | A flat tract of moorland in the counties of Argyll and Perth. Mr. Buchanan, an authority quoted (and allowed to be the most competent in the locality) is of the opinion that the name was originally confined to Perthshire. But agrees that it should now be extended into Argyllshire as the portion situated in the latter having now become pretty generally known by the common name Rannoch Moor and being evidently the same expanse as in the former county. Its extent is comprised within the following, viz. from the northern arm of Loch Laidon to Lochan Gainmheach and Lochan Mathar Etive thence southward to Dubha Lochan and Loch Ba', then easterly to Leathad Mor (Sheet 47) and county boundary (sheet 48). |

Ordnance Survey - Argyll county
Ordnance Survey was established in the 18th century to create maps, surveys and associated records for the entirety of Great Britain. These records are arranged by county. This entry has been created to enable searching for Ordnance Survey records for the county of Argyll, which is in the west of Scotland. The boundaries of the county were altered by the Boundary Commissioners in 1891.
