St Blane ?
"Of this church, dedicated to Blane, a saint of considerable note in the
5th. Century, we have no early notice. In the year 1527 Sir Morice Makneile
Rector of Kirkblane died, and was succeeded by Master James Haswell, the
patronage being at that time apparently vested in the Crown. In 1538 the
Rectory of Kilblane was resigned by Sir Robert Montgomery & Sir James McGauchane
was presented to the charge by King James V. The Church stood on
the right bank of the Coniglen by which it has been washed away together
with the greater part of the burying-ground. The Church of Southend
built in 1774 stands near the spot. Origines Parochiales
'Of St. Blaan's Chapel there is no vestige. It was probably carried
away by the river which passes near it. Most of the burial-ground, which
belonged to it, has been demolished in the same manner within a
century back." Old Stat [Staistical] Account.
"No vestige remains of the parish church of St Blane. Here also
neglect is conspicuous. The Chapel was carried away by the water of
Coniglen, which passes close by it, as was also the whole of an extensive
cemetery attached to it, with a very small exception, which now forms
the bank of the river, and human bones may now be seen bleaching in the Sun".
