Cruach a' Kames [note]
Cruach a' Khames
also this letter should be C. The Gaelic letter of the sound
of K should be used even tho [though] the meaning of the word Kames be not understood.
Mr. Carpenter
It would be very imprudent to attempt any alteration of the word "Kames," as
the estate on which this hill is situated is known & recognised as such There is no
doubt it is a corruption of Camus (G [Gaelic]) [Signed] A. Gwin Serg RE [Sergeant Royal Engineers] 1/5/66 [1 May 1866]

Ordnance Survey - Argyll county
Ordnance Survey was established in the 18th century to create maps, surveys and associated records for the entirety of Great Britain. These records are arranged by county. This entry has been created to enable searching for Ordnance Survey records for the county of Argyll, which is in the west of Scotland. The boundaries of the county were altered by the Boundary Commissioners in 1891.
