Parish of Benholm

Stone Coffin found here [Note] I have made every possible enquiry relative to the above extract but can not meet with any person who can give any information on the Subject. About 20 years ago Mr Smith found at the place as marked on here, a Stone Coffin about 3 feet below the Surface. It was full of water, and there were no bones, nor any appearance of human remains, this may be accounted for by the wet nature of the Soil which would hasten decomposition. B. Render Corp. R.E. The boundaries of the county were altered by the Boundary Commissioners in 1891.
