It is situated on a circular shaped islet in "Loch a[n] Eilean" A small portion of the building still remains, the walls of which are about 20 feet in height, but the greater part of it is a shapeless mass of ruins. It is not known in the locality at what time it was erected, but it is known that its last occupants were the Chiefs of Clan Ranald who then held possession of the entire island of South Uist.
