132 | Applies to a small cairn of stones situated about a mile north of Gaick Shooting Lodge to Commemorate the death of the son of Mr Mckenzie, who was game Keeper in Gaick Forest for many years. The place on which the Cairn is erected is the spot where the funeral party first rested with the Corpse when leaving Gaick for the graveyard. This manner of erecting Cairns, seems to be a very ancient Custom in this part of the Highlands, and so appears to be worthy of notice. |

Ordnance Survey - Inverness county
Ordnance Survey was established in the 18th century to create maps, surveys and associated records for the entirety of Great Britain. These records are arranged by county. This entry has been created to enable searching for Ordnance Survey records for the county of Inverness, which is in the north of Scotland. The boundaries of the county were altered by the Boundary Commissioners in 1891.
