129 | Eilean an Righ or the King's Island, the largest of the two islands near the middle of Loch Laggan. On which are still the remains of a building believed to have been the hunting lodge of King Fergus. The doorway is not three feet wide, and in both sides there is a groove, as if it had been closed in the manner of a portcullis, and a hole in each side may have been for the reception of a bar; and near one side of the door is a narrow slit, as if for reconnoitering The rock consisting of the island is of the prevaling gneiss; but, as if for ornament, immediately under the door for the wall is on the edge of the island _ it is traversed by a vein of large grained granite. |

129 | On the smaller island, called Eilean na Coin, or the Dog's Island, there are no ruins, and the name indicated the belief that it was the site of the Royal Kennel. A few stunted and weather beaten trees, bent towards the east, show that the west wind is most powerful or prevalent on the loch. See Speyside Guide Page 212 |
