various | applies to a large District situated in the Parish of Glenelg and comprises the whole of the Estate of Knoydart, the property of James Baird Esq. of Gartsherrie & Cambus Doon Ayrshire. this district is bounded on the west by the "Sound of Sleat" xtending from Loch Nevis to Loch Hourn on the north along Loch Hourn to its Eastern Extremity through Loch Beag for about half its length and from a point on the South Side. along the Watershed through "Càrn Mòr" "Sgòr Dubh" "Sgòr Cliabh" to a point on Watershed imediately above the Source of "Allt Lagan Chauldin" from thence to Stream named along it to its junction with the Hosie Water following it till it Enters "Loch Quoich" along Said Loch to the Southward taking Gearr-Amhainn along said River to Lochan a' clihabhan, through there and thence along watershed over "Sail-Bhurie" "Sgor na Cìche" to Màm Clachard" from thence along the FinisKaig River to Loch Nevis which forms the Southern Boundary to the "Sound of Sleat" this district was instituted a Quoad Sacra Parish under the name of Knoydart in 1863 with James Baird Esq. Cambus Doon, Ayrshire the proprietor as Patron |
