012 | A narrow hollow through which the boundary between this and the parish of Inverness runs, extending in a north eastern direction a few hundred yards west from the Battle Field. It is so named from the circumstances that the horses of the royal army were stabled here the night previous to the battle (Culloden) the houses used for the purpose are on the Inverness side of the boundary line and are occupied. (Though in a deplorable condition) Property of Andrew Forbes Esq. Note- I may mention here that these houses are spoken of as the King's Stable." |
