011 | The Site of an ancient cairn on the demesne lands attached to Nunraw. It was of circular Shape about 80 links in diameter, in the year 1813 the Stones which formed this Cairn was removed and in the Centre of it a few feet below the surface of the ground three urns were found Containing burned [human] bones in a calcined State the urns were placed Side by side with their bottom upwards, two them were [accidentally] broken by the workmen who found them, the third one is still preserved entire at [Nunraw] The head of an arrow of flint was [also] found in the earth when afterwards turned up. No trace of the Cairn remains. |
