[106] - Church

[Note] -- This edifice is built upon the site of the ancient
Church of Dunbar, which was collegiate, and the first establishment
of the Kind in Scotland. The present church was built in
1821 and has no dedicatory name. The old church was
converted into a collegiate charge in 1342 by Patrick tenth
Earl of Dunbar and confirmed by the Archbishop of St.
Andrews. It escaped destruction at the reformation, and
with some slight repairs, continued to be used as a place
of worship untill 1821. The present structure is the
Parochial Church of Dunbar
