From this village the parish takes one of its names. The adjoining Parishes Tynninghame and Aldham were added to this Parish in 1761, and thus united. they bear the name "Whitekirk & Tynninghame. The ancient Ph [Parish] of Whitekirk received its name from the whiteness of the stone of which its church was built. |
