004 | The ruins of an Ancient Church surrounded by a Graveyard, in the Village of Gullane, which was dedicated to St Andrew and well Endowed previous to the removal of the seat of Worship to Dirleton in 1612 by an act of Parliament. Gore, the Historian, states that the last Vicar of this Church - before its abandonment - was deprived of his living by James the 6th for no other misdemeanour than that of Smoking Tobacco, a Custom which the King, it is said, held in abhorrence |
