014 | An extensive burying place, on a small eminence south of Milton, has been discovered a few years back. The Coffins were made of rude Stone flags. the graves were of various demensions and from 2 1/2 to 6 feet in length. Some of the skeletons were almost entire. but altho [although] diligent search was made for Coins &c. nothing was found, that would lead to throw any further light. on it It is Supposed to have been a place of interment used by the inhabitants. at some remote period. on account of the number of Small graves, evidently where Children were interred, which have been discovered. and which could not have fallen in battle - The name "Burial Knowe" has been given to this place of late years. |
