| Cairnton & Burnside /continued | 025 | [continued from page 63] of both farms, now held by one Tenant, are given. This is a particularity which often occurs in the County but in this case the name of one of the farms has been reversed, and the proper name to the proper Burnside dropped, and sure to be eventually lost sight of from the importance of the farm steading compared with the insignificance of the now Cotter house which is the Burnside proper. The Cotter house may not be a permanent house - it is not considered so and the only way of retaining the name of Cairnton with propriety appears to be by adopting both names to the present farm house of the lands of Cairnton & Burnside, as given in the Roll and adopted on the Examination Trace. |

Ordnance Survey - Angus county
Ordnance Survey was established in the 18th century to create maps, surveys and associated records for the entirety of Great Britain. These records are arranged by county. This entry has been created to enable searching for Ordnance Survey records for the county of Angus, which is in the east of Scotland. The boundaries of the county were altered by the Boundary Commissioners in 1891.
