049 | [Situation] In the village of Kirkton of Strathmartine This church was removed in 1799 when the Parish was annexed to Mains, on part of the ground where it stood is the burial place of the family of Strathmartine, according to the Old Stat. Acct. [Statistical Account] the Church of Strathmartine was rebuilt in 1779. But the schoolmaster an old man long resident in the parish states that it was built on the site of a very ancient church. |
