040 | A portion of the old mansion house of Kinblethmont left by the former proprietor so that the site might not be lost. The portion remaining is about 10 feet high and is vaulted. The walls are about 5 feet in thickness. The age of the old mansion house is not known but is believed to be very ancient. It was removed with this exception about 3 years ago, when the new house was built. The old statistical account mentions this place as being a Royal hunting seat of William the Lion.
