054 | [Situation] In the southern portion of the town of Dundee, Contiguous to the Shore of the Firth & running nearly parallel with it A large & spacious Street Containing many fine houses & some excellent shops. It extends from the South West Corner of High Street to the Perth Road, a distance of nearly half a mile, terminating at the South end of Small's Wynd. The Street although irregular in breadth, being well paved, lighted with gas, & kept tolerably clean presents a general good appearance & being also one of the principal thoroughfares is always animated and busy looking. It should here be remarked that for a short distance at its East end some inconvenience is found to result from a few buildings narrowing the roadway near its junction with the High Street and at a point where the traffic is most considerable In [continued on page 52] |
