054 | [Situation] At the SW [South West] end of the town of Dundee Is a small rocky promontory jutting out from the South side of Magdalen Green into the Firth of Tay. It is protected around the sides by masonry and at its extreme point is a slip with life boat attached & running tackle constructed so as to ensure the speedy launch of the boat. These precautions have been taken by the local authorities owing to so many cases of drowning having occurred at this place which is resorted to by great numbers of persons for bathing |
