These works which are upon a very extensive scale comprise large & handsome ranges of building in which the preparation, spinning & weaving of Tow Jute & Flax is effected by steam power & manual labor. They are situated on the West side of Lochee Road near to Guthrie Street & give employment to upwards of 800 men. Four steam engines are here employed the united horse power of which amounts to over 200 nominally. The works are the property of Gilroy Brothers & Compy [Company] and are under the immediate management of Mr. Charles Blyth |
