033 | A few dwellings with small portions of land attached belonging to the Estate of Aldbar the property of Mr. Chalmers. Sometimes these are called "Cotton of Pitkennedy" a name improper both as to propriety as well as "Muir of Pitkennedy" being recognised where the other designation would not. Cotton, signifying the Cotter's houses of the Farm, is altogether misapplied when given to these houses, which hold directly off the Pr. [Proprietor] not off the Farm. Persons are found who at once recognise "Muir of Pitkennedy", but who say they are not acquainted with the "Cotton of Pitkennedy". |

Ordnance Survey - Angus county
Ordnance Survey was established in the 18th century to create maps, surveys and associated records for the entirety of Great Britain. These records are arranged by county. This entry has been created to enable searching for Ordnance Survey records for the county of Angus, which is in the east of Scotland. The boundaries of the county were altered by the Boundary Commissioners in 1891.
